Will 2023 be any easier for first home buyers?

The pandemic saw house prices in Australia drop across all capital cities. 

You might think it’s a good thing for potential first home owners, but on the contrary the number of first home purchases plunged by 31 percent over the year to November last year, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. 

We spoke with Eliza Owen, the Head of Residential Research Australia at CoreLogic to see if this year will be any easier for first home buyers, amidst rising interest rates, tightening borrowing restrictions and a dwindling housing market.
