Will Augmented Reality be your reality?
You may be familiar with 2016’s Pokemon Go mania, getting kids onto the street in the hopes of catching the likes of popular fictional characters Pikachu or Squirtle. Or, perhaps you’ve decorated your home with the help of the IKEA app. These forms of augmented reality, that is – merging computer graphics with our view of the physical world – represent just the beginning of a future of AR set to greatly influence the our daily lives, transforming the role of industries from retail to construction. A preview of some of the newest developments in AR were revealed at the world’s largest annual consumer technology show in Las Vegas just last week. Matt Adcock, Senior Research Engineer and Experimental Scientist from CSIRO spoke to 2ser to discuss these new developments and their implications.
