Will decriminalizing abortion support both doctors and patients?

This week, New South Wales parliament has been shaken up by the introduction of the Reproductive Healthcare Reform Bill. With Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Opposition Leader Jodi McKay both suggesting they intend to support the Bill, it’s been a ground-breaking moment for pro-choice activists.

Yet, the gatekeepers to abortion services are the doctors administering them and without support from public healthcare, some worry that reproductive healthcare will continue to be hard to reach for many.

Julia Andre spoke with Greens’ spokeswoman for women’s rights and member for Newtown, Jenny Leong on how the Bill will transform abortion services in New South Wales.
