Will Gene Doping Start Changing Sports

We all know what doping is. But have you heard of gene doping? Gene doping is the illegal form of gene therapy, and experimental medical treatment where faulty genes are replaced with good ones. This could be used to treat syndromes and chronic diseases, but in athletes it has the potential to make them bigger, stronger and faster, giving them the edge that they need. It’s unclear yet whether athletes have begun trying to use genetic enhancements to improve their chances, however the possibility is very real. To explain how gene doping works, The Daily was joined by Dr Colin Moran, senior Lecturer in physiology, exercise and Nutrition at the University of Stirling in Scotland.
