Women advised to delay mammogram screenings after receiving the COVID vaccine

Despite delays, Australia’s vaccine rollout is finally underway. Phase 2a is set to begin in a matter of days, meaning adults 50 and over will soon begin receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists has advised that women wait up to 6 weeks after receiving the vaccine before getting a mammogram. But why should get the jab delay potentially life-saving cancer screenings?

The Wednesday Daily was joined by Rik Thompson, Professor in Breast Cancer Research at the Queensland University of Technology, to explain.
