Women still facing FGM across the world

More and more countries have outlawed the practice of female genital mutilation, but The Gambia could be the first country in the world to overturn its ban.

According to the United Nations, over 230 million women and girls have survived female genital mutilation, with many suffering lifelong effects. 

Health professionals in Australia are concerned about the prominence of FGM in countries close to our shores.
