Women’s Wartime: Celebrating Women in the military for International Women’s Day
Women have long played a significant role in Australian military service. For International Women’s Day, the Anzac Memorial is holding a series of special events to commemorate and recognise the women who have contributed to the defence of Australia in conflicts and peacekeeping missions.
The program kicks off at 10am with the performance of ‘Devoted Service’, followed by a Service of Remembrance Star Ceremony to the women that lost their lives for our nation. A Women’s Wartime Service Talk follows at 11:30am, and a Women’s Veterans Event in the evening for women that currently or previously serve the Australian Defense Force. The Anzac Memorial’s Head of Learning Tristan Black, and the Office for Veteran Affairs Acting Manager Fabienne Virago joined Danny Chifley on 2SER Breakfast.
