Word Travels’ Story Week 2020
From the 6th to the 11th of November, the wildest wordsmiths from around the world will come together for Australia’s largest performing writer’s program, Word Travels’ Story Week. The art of spoken word poetry has historically worked as an outlet for the disenfranchised and oppressed groups of society to speak to their experiences, with this year’s Story Week line-up hosting an array of artists speaking to their unique experiences.
The Daily spoke with the creative director of Word Travels’ Story Week Miles Merrill to get a deeper look at the rise in popularity of spoken word poetry and what Story Week will involve.
