World Number One Ash Barty Crashes Out of Wimbledon

Ashleigh Barty’s Wimbledon campaign is over, after the world number one fell to Alison Riske in the fourth round. Barty went down in three sets 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 in 97 minutes to the unseeded American.

The world number one was philosophical in defeat, promising to enjoy a “beer or two” to celebrate her success over the last month. Barty won the French Open in June and claimed the world number one ranking for the first time in her career after winning a Wimbledon warm-up tournament in Birmingham.
