World’s biggest genetics study into depression begins in Queensland

According to the Australian Psychological Society, depression affects approximately 20 per cent of Australian adults either directly or indirectly during their lifetime. A new study by the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute needs over 500,000 participants worldwide who have experienced clinical depression to investigate the way genetics contribute to the mental illness.
