World’s first bilateral agreement on Climate Mobility – Tuvalu and Australia

4,000km from Sydney, the South Pacific island nation of Tuvalu is going underwater.  In response, Australia and Tuvalu have announced the world’s first bilateral agreement on climate mobility, making way for Tuvaluans facing displacement from climate change to resettle in Australia.

The Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law at UNSW has  just released  “Principles on Climate Mobility  which provides evidence-based, legally sound tools aimed to safeguard people’s fundamental human rights.
Dr Tamara Wood is co-author of this ground-breaking paper and Senior Research Fellow at the Kaldor Centre.
James Murray spoke to Dr Wood about ways ahead for those facing the existential threat of climate change.
