Yabun Festival 2019
This January 26 marks Australia Day, but to many the day is known as Invasion Day, a Day of Mourning or Survival Day.
For the 26th of January, we look at one of the major festivals for the day, the Yabun Festival. The festival is the ‘largest one-day gathering and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in Australia’. Every year tens of thousands of people attend the festival that celebrates and acknowledges the survival of culture, people and spirit.
To find out more about the Yabun Festival our producer Marlene Even spoke to the Yabun Festival director Blake Robinson.
