‘Zombie DAs’ in NSW trigger State enquiry

Desperate need for housing supply is a hot button issue, but rising costs and extended build times have garnered equal concern in recent years.

But, how long is too long to wait for approved housing to be completed? And what happens when decades-old development consents don’t include environmental, cultural and climate consideration required in modern planning systems?

While some parts of Australia impose deadlines for approved building development, this isn’t the case in New South Wales, with some approvals remaining dormant for years.

Major community outcry has since sparked a recent parliamentary inquiry into these historical development approvals.
