mr.K in Brisbane will be sharing some recent-ish all instrumental releases he’s been wanting to share for a while. From Portuguese artist, Kyron (of Beautify Junkyards) we have a delicious and shady composition from his recent album inspired by the life and work of English artist Austin Osman Spare released via Library of The Occult Records. Then we zip over to the States to hear a stunning piece from Richard Chartier, a Los Angeles-based artist considered one of the key figures in minimalist sound art. And while we’re in that neck of the woods, mr.K thought it high time we hear a little more from his favourite theremin virtuoso, the beyond fabulous, Armen Ra.
Gayle serves up the yummy with music from the brand new Shriekback album, entitled ‘1000 Books’, a track from the Sparks soundtrack to their film, ‘Annette’, the poetic Arlo Parks, some southern gothicness from Adia Victoria, jazz legend Mary Lou Williams released via Smithsonian Folkways, a new vibe from Courtney Barnett, Japanese R’nR legend Yuya Uchida, hot horns from The Roland Kirk Quartet, and even hotter vibes from the avant post punk, Rip Rig and Panic. Things take a very curvy turn when electro pioneer Delia Derbyshire & Anthony Newley team up before we hear something from the Gareth Liddiard, Jim White, Chris Abrahams collaboration, Springtime released via Joyful Noise. And that’s just the beginning!
