Is cockroach milk a better alternative to cows?
Low fat, no fat, full cream, high calcium, high protein, soy, light, skim, omega 3, high calcium with vitamin D and folate, or extra dollop? Whether it’s cow, soy, rice or almond, milk is a very important part of our everyday lives. But what if we were to add cockroach milk to that list? Research from the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine in India has found that post-natal fluid from the Pacific Beetle Cockroach is very high in important nutrients. So high in fact that the crystals from this fluid have the essential amino acids to equal a complete meal. Accredited dietitian and lecturer in dietetics at Sydney University, Dr Luke Gemming, spoke to us about whether cockroach milk could be a sustainable alternative for dairy in the future.
