A Century-Old Fascination with the Little Red Planet
NASA’s Insight probe which has been travelling through space since May, finally landed on Mars last week. Footage of the NASA control room erupting in joy as touchdown was declared has been doing the rounds on the internet. The footage captures the alluring power that space has held over humans for centuries. We were joined by Science Leader at the CSIRO, Dr. Paulo de Souza to learn about the space community’s interest in the planet of Mars, and hear how the first images of Mars captivated Dr. Souza at a young age, inspiring him to pursue a life in space studies.
