Why is Australia’s biggest cancer killer underfunded?
Despite killing more people than breast, prostate and ovarian cancer combined, Lung Cancer remains stigmatised within Australian society despite it being an aggressive and devastating cancer. Surprisingly, 1 in 3 women who have lung cancer have never smoked, illustrating how this cancer is not confined to smokers and can affect anyone. The lack of public recognition has lead to underfunding and under-representation for lung cancer which can easily be detected and treated early, as discussed by Nic when he chatted with Chairman of Lung Cancer Australia, Christine Jenkins.
