Pauline Hanson’s Facebook video protesting the decision by the Melbourne ATO to install squat toilets has sparked talk about whether squatting or sitting is better for your health.
Squatting to go to the toilet is common in parts of India, Asia and Europe. The Melbourne ATO has said it’s decided to include them in it’s new building to cater for an ethnically diverse workforce. But just what has made them stand the test of time, and is squatting actually better for your body than sitting down?
Doctor Vincent Ho, a clinical academic gastroenterologist at the University of Western Sydney joined 2SER to talk about some of the benefits of squat toilets.
