Brisbane disabled riding centre to close

A Brisbane-based centre that provides vital equine therapy for people with disabilities has announced they are shutting at the end of July unless they can find a buyer.

HELP Enterprises, who took over the McIntyre horse-riding centre six years ago, say they can no longer afford to run it because of the widening gap between the NDIS fees for service and the escalating operating costs.

The McIntyre Centre was set up by June and Peter McIntyre in 1964 and has been running for almost 60 years. It’s now an established part of the community.

Carol Campbell’s 18-year-old daughter, Eleanor McGeorge, lives with speech-language disorder as part of her autism, and is a client of the centre. Carol and Eleanor are devastated over the announcement.
