The ‘Sissy pants phenomenon’, is quickly becoming a very controversial topic in China. Young men are developing a more extensive grooming routine. Cosmetics, skin care products and, an overall more feminine look have become highly popular among young Chinese men. This androgynous trend is already very common across the border in South Korea and Japan, where these men are praised as artist and performers. However it is being rejected by a large chunk of the Chinese population. Fears have grown, that the rise of a feminine male will weaken the Chinese population and its future. Today we spoke to journalist Jack Kilbride from the ABC to discuss why a more feminine male is so controversial.
