Australia’s corporate regulator has sent a stark warning to company directors, telling them to consider the risks of climate change or risk expensive lawsuits. Litigation over climate change has been increasing around the world, as activists zero in on companies shirking their responsibilities to mitigate the harmful effects of climate change. But a new wave of court action is emerging, with directors of companies in the firing line. We chat to Brynn O’Brien from the Australasian Center for Corporate Responsibility about what it means for shareholders and whether it could hasten government action on the environmental crisis.
