Concert for Life 2019
According to recent research, suicides of indigenous Australians happen at twice the rate of the rest of the community. This statistic has spurred some of Australia’s leading musicians to come to together for a very special concert at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music to raise funds for the Westerman Jilya Institute for Indigenous Mental Health to prevent indigenous suicide. This Concert for Life series is being held on World Suicide Prevention Day, Tuesday September 10, utilising a diverse range of musical talent offering a range of diverse music to tackle an important social cause.
2ser’s Stephen Hill spoke to Roger Benedict, the Chief Conductor at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, about the Concert for Life and the importance of suicide prevention for our first Australians.
