Domestic Violence Plan To Go Ahead Against Expert Advice

The government has announced a new million dollar funding package for victims of domestic violence, in this is a new $10 million program, which offers counselling to families within an abusive relationship. The specialised Family Violence Services aims to deliver a “whole family approach” to supporting those affected by family and domestic violence. Author Anna Spargo-Ryan shares her thoughts on this plan, which she says only leaves women and children trapped in violent relationships for longer than necessary. The plan has been met with fierce criticisms by experts in psychology and relationship therapy, who say counselling is ineffective and only fuels emotion in abusive relationships.
