Elite sport: Preparing for retirement early

Tragically, Australia has had to watch many of our elite athletes across all sports struggle with adjusting to new lives after their careers come to an end. In a bid to stop this, Olympic Swimmer Ian Thorpe proposed a solution over the weekend to use the experience and expertise of Australian sporting veterans including Cathy Freeman, Tim Cahill, Pat Rafter and Lleyton Hewitt, in a new mentoring program. Nic chatted with Andrew Martin, Professor of Educational Psychology at UNSW, about how important the right mentoring is during childhood and adolescence.
