While we take a curvy break, we'll be broadcasting a few previous episodes. This week we replayed Episode 397. Originally broadcast back in July 2021 from Gayle’s lockdown bedroom in Sydney and mr.K’s salon in Brisbane, we were also joined by our Curvy crewster in Moscow, contemporary classical composer, Victor Gashnikov. This week he’ll feature a few new releases from indie French label, Born Bad Records – from outfits, Cyril Cyril (Switzerland), Star Feminine Band (Africa) and bandleader, Benny Bennett from Born Bad’s fabulous ‘Cha Cha Au Harem’ compilation of Exotica/Orientica from 1960 – 1964. He also takes a deep dive with a 35 minute feature into the extraordinary 1975 recording from the legendary Miss Peggy Lee called, ‘Mirrors’. With a suite of songs written by songwriting legends, Mike Stoller & Jerry Lieber backed by an 82 piece orchestra and arrangements by the great Johnny Mandel, mr.K delves deep some of the songs and background behind this unique album in Peggy lee’s career.
