Strip Searches – Targeting Young People And First Nations Need to Stop – 

Despite being a pandemic and during lockdown periods more than 4000 strip searches were conducted by NSW police, mostly,  against children and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Only recently Redfern Legal Centre  joined with the legal entity Slater and Gordon to launch class action proceedings against the State of New South Wales on behalf of people who’ve been unlawfully searched by police.

Covid 19 Update

On the latest news on covid 19 cases another 29 people in New South Wales have died with COVID-19. There are now 1,836 people hospitalized from the virus as the state records almost 6000 new cases. There are 1,836 people in hospital due to the virus.

Franklin River No Dams Blockade – A Model for Direct Climate Action – 

As early as the 1980’s the clamor for effecting change on the ground to reverse the damage to our environment and impacts of global warming from overdevelopment,  had been on Australia’s agenda.

The Franklin River Dam Blockade in the year 1983 was Australia’s epic and world-renowned fight to preserve the last wild frontiers of virgin forests in Tasmania. It was also the year that catapulted former Australian Labour Party Prime Minister Bob Hawke into office.

A new film titled Franklin,  chronicles that action and inspires our present generation as to the great possibility of solving the climate crisis through direct action.

The film’s main character is Oliver Cassidy the son of Michael Cassidy one of the well-known environmental activist who fought in the No Dams Blockade in Tasmania alongside illustrious politician Senator Bob Brown. Interviewee Talent: Oliver Cassidy
