Forensic science taking on illegal logging
Illegal logging can have a devastating impact on some of the world’s most vulnerable environmental areas and yet it remains a multi-billion dollar industry. And yet shutting it down doesn’t get as much attention from law enforcement as compared to the similar but much smaller trade in exotic animals. Forensic science may hold the key to shutting down the trade, however, according to Dr Eleanor Dormontt, a Postdoctoral Researcher in Timber Forensics from the University of Adelaide.
