Free The Friday at the Red Rattler

The Red Rattler in Marrickville is a queer-run creative playground that is ethical, sustainable and community owned.

The Rat is not-for-profit and volunteer-driven, ensuring continued inclusive and affordable access for a diverse range of communities and creators, an ethos that guides their latest initiative, Free The Friday, a brand-new monthly live music residency.

This exciting program is designed to showcase the original music of independent, genre-pushing artists, thanks to the support of Live Music Australia’s contemporary music & arts development branch.

Free The Friday launches on Friday 9th August, headlined by hip-hop artist MARI., fresh off a national tour with Horrorshow, supported by Grace Barr, a Gadigal/Sydney based songwriter, along with DJ Thaen and DJ Clutch Up on the turntables. Special guests could possibly include YOU, as the night will conclude with an all-in jam session.

Local Hip Hop legend, cultural leader, activist, community advocate and Program Manager for the Red Rattler, the amazing Kween G, joined 2SER Breakfast to discuss how Free The Friday is committed to eliminating financial barriers by offering free admission to all events, meaning that music lovers in our community can experience the latest and greatest in new sounds.
