How To Be An Ally This Invasion Day
Today is the 26th of January, which many call Australia Day, and others recognise as a day of invasion, mourning or survival. A day to acknowledge and recognise the past, and its impacts on the present and also the future. A day to connect with the land we live on, and the people that are around us. It will be looking different this year, with many events either being cancelled, or streamed at a distance because of the pandemic.
2SER Breakfast’s Alex James was joined by Josh Gilbert from Reconciliation NSW to discuss why celebrations on January 26 are so controversial and how best non-Indigenous Australians can be an ally for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
