Indigenous Australian Art Celebration
Each year, Australia celebrates the leading Indigenous art community with the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards. Sixty-five finalists from around the country are chosen, with winners named in a variety of areas including emerging artists, bark painting and multimedia.
Cassie Leatham has been a finalist in 2020 and 2019. Cassie is from Taungurung people from the Kulin Nation. An artist, designer, master weaver, traditional dancer, bushtukka woman and passionate educator, Cassie spoke to The Daily’s Willy Russo from her home base in Victoria.
