Indigenous Australian Drag Queens: Michaela Perske Discusses Documentary ‘Black Divaz’
The world of drag queens has vastly changed since the early days of the 70’s and 80’s. As have the perceptions of broader society, thankfully. But what’s it like to be an Indigenous Australian drag queen in this day and age? Michaela Perske is the producer of a documentary which focuses on that very question. The film is titled ‘Black Divaz’ and follows the 6 Indigenous Queens competing at the Miss First Nation Pageant, which took place last year in September. Michaela joined Brooke Taylor 2ser’s Drive to tell us more about the conceptualisation and development of the film.
