Insomnia and Depression
Insomnia and depression are two conditions that are tightly linked with around 80 percent of people diagnosed with depression also suffering from insomnia. Due to the stigma surrounding mental health, people are more likely to seek treatment for their insomnia than their depression. Researchers from the Black Dog Institute have carried out an online cognitive behaviour therapy trial designed to treat insomnia and some symptoms of depression. Dr Helen Christensen, the Chief Scientist and Director of the Black Dog Institute joined us on The Daily to discuss this trial and what it could mean for diagnosing the links between Insomnia and Depression.
