Is Striving For Perfection Actually A Positive Thing?

As we start to work on our tasks we have set in the new year, we begin to place pressure on ourselves to quickly achieve such goals. We have all been told at some point in our lives to strive for perfection and practise makes perfect. But why exactly are we obsessed with achieving a perfect score in the game of life? Does constantly striving for perfection propose more negative risks than positive?
