Japan Earthquake: Is Fukushima Still Safe?
With memories of the 2011 9.0 Earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan, the Fukushima Power Plant is under heavy scrutiny. With every subsequent quake, such as the 6.9 magnitude quake 10km off the coast of Japan last Tuesday, many are wondering if a similar event to 2011’s meltdowns is possible.
Do the worries of another disaster have any merit, and what can be done to prevent it from happening again? For more the Daily was joined by Tony Irwin, Engineer and Lecturer in Nuclear Science at the Australian National University.
