Laughin’ Boy Cafe: Where Smiles Are On The Menu
I’ve been in the food reviewing game a long time now (2 years) and with a wealth of experience behind me, I can say confidently that it is not so much the food that makes somewhere a good place to eat… it’s the people! Without good, kind, generous people behind it, no restaurant or cafe can thrive (or dream of getting the Tummy Treasures stamp of approval). And it is very much the people running Laughin’ Boy Cafe that are the reason they are featured in this episode.
I met Shane, one of the owners of Laughin’ Boy, outside the cafe on a table overlooking the glorious Nepean River on a sunny morning earlier this year, and from the moment I met him I liked him! He told me about how the former police cottage came to be the bustling place for walkers and locals to meet for breakfast, lunch, or dinner that it is now. And as we spoke, one of the many friendly waiters came out and showed us some of the most impressive menus I have ever seen. In fact, I had so much trouble deciding what I wanted to eat I had to get them to pick for me (they went with the pancakes which I was thrilled with).
As I was shown around the inside of the cafe I couldn’t stop noticing just how many smiling faces there were around me! From the chefs to the waiters to all of the people sitting around the tables enjoying their food. It was just such a fun place to be! I almost didn’t want to leave! And I think that, more than anything, is a sign that Laughin’ Boy is well worth a visit.
In the next few months they are hoping to have a carpark opening right next to their prime location meaning you can drive as many people as you can fit in a car out to Emu Plains for a delicious treat that you well and truly deserve. But I’ll leave the logistics of the who/what/when up to you- I’ve already given you the where.
