Matthew Sleeth’s ‘A Drone Opera’

In this day and age, you can’t deny that we’re a society dominated by new media and technology. Some say we’re slaves to our devices, others say we can’t live without it.

Melbourne born contemporary artist Matthew Sleeth explores the new reality of constant surveillance and our love affair with technology in ‘A Drone Opera’. It’s a multi-channel; video installation that features surveilling drones set to an original libretto performed live by operatic vocalists. Matthew has brought his most ambitious live work yet, here, to Sydney.

‘A Drone Opera’ is showing at Carriageworks until July 28th and is free so make sure you check it out!

Matthew joined our Drive presenter Sidd Sharma to chat about his work.
