Murray River Freshwater Turtles Close to Extinct
Freshwater turtles in the Murray River are in danger of going extinct very soon. The population of these creatures has dropped more than 90% over the past 40 years, with no signs of it slowing down. The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife (FNPW) has teamed up with several project partners and leading scientists, supporting a three- year research project the decline of a creature that has been on Earth for at least 220 millions years. Ian Darbyshire, CERO of FNPW spoke to Breakfast this morning to talk about what is going on with our turtles and how we can help.
