One Eighty making waves in Youth Mental Health & suicide prevention
Mental health is a hot topic now more than ever. But how much of it is actually practical and not just for online activism? Well, that’s where One Eighty comes in. The not-for-profit organization was started in 2017 by Paris Jeffcoat and Samantha Callender following the loss of high school friends to suicide.
Their aim is to destigmatize the topic of mental health for young people in Australia and prevent suicide as early as possible by providing support and resources through the use of peer-to-peer support. They host weekly group sessions called Open-up, allowing participants to get together to share their stories and find community.
Program coordinator, Scarlett Stemler joins host Stefan Posthuma to discuss all the wonderful efforts made by One Eighty to achieve their mission.
