Skin burns from sunscreen – examining the UV paradox
It’s a bit cooler outside today, but over the last few days we’ve seen a few absolute scorchers, with this January being the hottest Australian January on record. It’s been great weather for a barbeque or heading to the beach, but as always we’ve got to remember to slip, slop, slap. Unfortunately, slopping on some sunscreen might have some issues of its own lately with reports that some Australians are being left burnt red raw after using popular sunscreen products. This has prompted calls from a leading public health advocate for a review of the way Australia regulates sunscreens.
David Templeman, president of the ‘Public Health Association Australia’, joined The Daily to talk to us about the possible dangers of some sunscreen products.
