Staying safe on social media

In 2018, almost every young person spends at least some part of their day scrolling through their Facebook feed, checking their Instagram, or updating their story on Snapchat. Unfortunately, many studies have found that social media is associated with a number of youth mental health issues – such as depression, anxiety, sleep problems, and suicide risk.

So how exactly can we make sure young people are using social media in a healthy, positive way? Sam Baran caught up with Dr Kristy Goodwin, one of Australia’s leading digital wellness researchers and educators, to find out.
