Strathfield in Sydney, toughest place to save for a housing deposit

Sydney’s median housing price has topped $1 million. The housing affordability crisis in Sydney has meant that people are moving further out of the city centre, or are decreasing the size of their home. A news survey published yesterday by BankWest has listed Strathfield as the top suburb of how long it will take to save for a house deposit in the area. It will take almost 18 years to save for a house deposit in the inner west suburb. The Daily’s Rod Chambers spoke with Alan Langford, Chief Economist at BankWest about the difficulty people are facing when saving for a house deposit in Sydney.
