Sydney’s Art Makeover
Sydney is getting a facelift and whilst roadworks currently scar the city, the new artworks popping up are the beauty marks. Barbara Flynn, the curatorial advisor of the City of Sydney, is responsible for the City Centre Public Art Plan, which is helping decorate Sydney with incredible public art from a range of international and local artists.
‘The Distance of Your Heart’ is the latest installation, with 68 handcrafted bronze birds sculpted by Tracey Emin scattered around the city. This is a much more intimate and enveloping artwork, so be sure to keep your eye out on the rooftops and posts for these beautiful birds.
The well-known ‘Pavilion’ and ‘Cloud Arch’ installations are still on schedule for completion and further artists are expected to be commissioned to create more artwork for the city.
