High Price of Human Organ Trafficking
While organ transplantation is one of the miracles of medical science, worldwide demand continues to outstrip supply, enabling an illicit commercial market of organ trafficking and transplant tourism to flourish in some overseas destinations. Many of these donors are poor, exploited or unable to give free and informed consent to donation.
A recent parliamentary report outlines key recommendations for deterring organ trafficking in Australia and internationally.
