The Original R&B Legend Behind ‘Hound Dog’ – Under the Covers
Despite being an R&B hit of its own in 1953, few people remember that Hound Dog wasn’t a song written for and originally by Elvis Presley.
This week, Max and Thomas travelled back to the 1950s to unearth the overlooked original blues track by artist Big Mama Thornton, and how Elvis came across and adapted it for his own recording.
You can catch Under the Covers on Friday Drive at 4:30pm.
