The Seaweed Solution
To many of us, seaweed is an ingredient that’s mainly used in Japanese cooking. But according to Dr Pia Winberg, the versatility of seaweed goes far beyond sushi rolls and miso soup. In 2015 Pia set up Australia’s first commercial seaweed farm on the south coast of New South Wales and she now produces a huge range of seaweed-based food, healthcare and medical grade products. From improving gut health and wound healing, to brain damage prevention and emissions reduction, seaweed farming holds a world of possibilities and Pia joined the Thursday Daily’s Willy Russo to tell us all about it.
