For the  people of the Fraser Coast region of south-east Queensland, the word yirinda means “now”.

Yirinda is also the self-titled debut album from Fred Leone and Samuel Pankhurst, music that invokes thousands of generations of story and culture, while emerging as something entirely new.

This absolutely stellar work, a mix of traditional songs and contemporary music, is the feature album on 2SER. 2SER Breakfast was honoured to welcome Fred and Samuel to the show to discuss the album, how the two met, the various iterations the project went through before settling on the final version, and of course the fact that Yirinda will be performing at the 24th Biennale of Sydney on March 10 2024.
