Tuesday Book Club with Andrew Pople: The Rosie Result
This week on Tuesday Book Club, Tess and Andrew discuss the finale to Graeme Simsion’s popular “Rosie” series: The Rosie Result.
SPOILERS ALERT:
This book deals with the oft hinted at theme of the series – autism – through Rosie and Don’s son, Hudson.
Taking place 11 years after the last book, Hudson is a young boy struggling at a new school. After he experiences a meltdown, Don is called into the school and is told by his teachers that they suspect Hudson may be on the spectrum.
In a narrative that runs concurrent to contemporary dialogue about neuro-diversity representation in media, The Rosie Result tackles the difficult issue of Autism in a unique and charming way typical of the “Rosie” series.
