UTS to lower the entry bar for female engineering students
The University of Technology, Sydney has decided to lower the bar entry to engineering for female applicants by 10 ATAR points.
The decision is in response to a conceivable major gender-imbalance across cohorts, with hopes a lower ATAR will encourage women to pursue the course.
So far, UTS is the only university to propose gender specific ATARs for Engineering, and the move has received some criticism from experts who say this won’t be enough to make a change.
