Album: No Ordinary Crown, Will Johnson

A great songwriter of the world, coming from Texas, Will Johnson was in a great band called ‘Centromatic’ before releasing albums under his own name. His smokey voice and lovely vocals has garnered him a prolific reputation. His latest Alt Country album ‘No Ordinary Crown’ is gaining great reviews in the underground scene. If you are interested in hearing good alt country rock, filled with great rockers, guitars, and ballads, then this is the album for you. Check it out!

Television: Poker Face

Marketed as a “modern day Columbo”; Natasha Lyonne plays Charlie Cale, an ordinary person with a great ability to detect lies, hence the “poker face”. Getting into trouble at a casino, she stumbles upon a murder and upon figuring out who committed the crime, she is now on the run. Along the way, she comes across various other crimes that she solves. Stylised as a “mystery-of-the-week” series, this 1 hour long, 10 episode series is filled with great mystery and guest casting ranging from Chloë Sevigny to Adrien Brody.

Poker Face is out now on Stan. Watch the trailer here.

Album: Cousin, Wilco

Based on the Alt Country kings, Wilco comes back with new album “Cousin” which consists of a rock and pop mix. He has brought Welsh singer Cate Le Bon to produce the album. The album showcases really good rockers with a few experimental pieces and ballads. While veteran bands might get locked into a run, Wilco is still pushing boundaries. He will be coming to Australia for the third time in 10 years. Go ahead and check it out!
