What Went Down at the 2019 Oscars

The 91st Academy Awards aired yesterday, displaying what the Academy deems to be the best and brightest of the film in 2018. But along with the gowns and tuxedos came a lot of controversy. This was the first Oscars since 1989 to go without a host. In addition, in response to lowering ratings, this year has made a more active effort to nominate more commercial choices which replace the broader movie going audience much to the chagrin of film purists.

To discuss the highs and lows we were joined by Dr. Anthony Lambert, Senior Lecturer, Department of Media, Music, Communication and Cultural Studies to discuss.
